Via Tribunali >>>> Portland!

Via Tribunali, our favorite Pizza place in Seattle is opening a location in PDX! Looks like Bruce Carey is involved & here is the scoop from PDX Eater:

Like pizza? So does Bruce Carey. Eater has heard that the cool dude behind BCR and such established eateries as Bluehour, Saucebox, 23Hoyt and clarklewis is looking to expand his empire to include one incredibly haute pie joint. Word is that Via Tribunali will pop up downtown and will be a co-venture with another restaurant group that's already started to make a splash in the Portland market. No word on when Via Tribunali will actually open, as the venture is still in the early stages. And on Monday Jillian Koziol, the former private events coordinator for New York’s well-respected Blue Hill at Stone Barns will join Carey’s crew as BCR’s events person. Eater has been told that Koziol is the wife of Clyde Common Sous-Chef Chris DiMinno.

can't wait...

Mee Sen Thai Eatery

Finally got up to the Mississippi District (& dodged the line @ Miss Studios to see The Cribs) to try the new Thai Eatery: Mee Sen. It did not disappoint as we tried the Pork Skewars, Wings with lime sauce & 2 soups (Mhoo Dang & Guay Tiew Ruar). The food was tasty & light fare & the place was hopping. Another cool place to add to the DDP Restys repetoire!

Whiffies Pies : VendrTV

One of my favorite late night spots in Portland, OR is Whiffies. A mobile fried pie spot in the SE 12th and Hawthorne food cart pod. The owner, Gregg Abbott, dishes out flakey sweet and savory pies with flavors ranging from cherry cobbler to pulled pork. Each pie is hand made that day and fried fresh to order. Amazing!

Dog Day at Che’ Cafe – Saturday

Terri and Ryan of Che’ Cafe at N Williams and Shaver are hosting an event this Saturday to benefit the Oregon Humane Society and dogs. OHS will be on site with dogs for adoption and Che’ Cafe will be offering $1 soups with all proceeds going to OHS. If you bring your own dog for Terri (the owner) to pet, you’ll get a bag of Bub grub jerky treats! Also, if you bring a toy or food to donate to OHS, you get a $2 coupon for Che’ Cafe. I think it is a win win situation and I have 2 little chihuahuas who would love to meet other dogs. As an added bonus, Vergnetti’s coffee which is also at the same location will be donating 15% of their sales to OHS.

Che’ Cafe is located at the corner of N Williams and Shaver and serves up sandwiches and hamburgers, pasta and salads. They always have vegetarian and vegan options. Come on down on Saturday, January 16 between 12-4pm for some dog day fun.
